Palo Naranja

Names and distribution: Palo Naranja has its area of ​​distribution in parts of Central America and northern South America.

Appearance: Sapwood: yellow to ocher, core: orange with yellow-gray-brown shade that can sometimes occur. The grain is mostly plain and regular, sometimes wavy and devoured. The pores are fine to medium in size, the grain usually straight. Occasionally wavy grain. Decorative

Properties: The specific gravity at u = 12% moisture content is specified with 0.72 to 0.90 t/m3 . Palo Naranja dries slowly, but without deformation; drying cracks on the surface are often observed, especially in dense wood. The wood is supposed to work only with carbide tools. Beautiful finishes are possible. The wood is weather resistant and highly resistant to fungus and insects. The bending stiffness averages to 18,600 N/mm2 and may be slightly higher.

Use: Construction wood outdoors, turners' wood
