Names and distribution: Zebrano or Zingana are brand names for exotic wood from the genus Microberlinia (botanical name: Microberlinia brazzavillensis and Microberlinia bisulcata), which belong to the legume family (Fabaceae). The origin is the tropical West Africa -. The extraordinary pattern of the wood led to its popularity. But the high demand for this tropical wood is also its greatest danger. In the years 1998 and 2000 the two types Microberlinia brazzavillensis and Microberlinia bisulcata were added to the Red List of Threatened Species by the IUCN.

Appearance: Heartwood yellowish white striped with dark brown veins, which is reminiscent of a zebra pattern. Unpleasant odor.

Properties: The density at 12% moisture content is approximately 730 kg / m³. Rather hard and brittle. Easy to process by automatically and manually

Use: Tonewood, Musical instruments, veneer, high-quality interior.
