Names and distribution: Bubinga is one of the highly valued woods of Africa. Bubinga (Guibourtia demeusei Harms) belongs to the family of Caesalpiniaceae. The species is mainly distributed in Central Africa, but Bubinga or similar sister species may also be found in the outer zones of the evergreen tropical rainforest. Example: Mushivi (Guibourtia coleosperma) native to the Miombo Woodlands of Zambia.

Appearance: Heartwood pink to bright red, less yellowish than Afzelia. Occasionally occurring with pronounced curly figure (Curly Bubinga, Waterfall Bubinga. Very decorative.

Properties: density at 12% moisture content is approximately 0.90 tons/m3. Bubinga need careful drying to avoid surface checking, it shows a high dimensional stability. Processing is easy and perfect surfaces can be generated. Durable.

Use: because of price and limited availability it is used only of high-end cabinet works & interior design, boat building, wood turners articles, handles, also as tonewood .
